A little boy asked his father, “Daddy, can I have ten dollars?” The father, wanting to understand, told the boy, “Yes, but can you tell me what you plan to do with the ten dollars?” The little boy replied quietly, “Daddy, I need the money to buy you a present.”
One day he dug in the usual spot and found that his box of money was gone. He let out a loud cry which brought out his neighbor to ask what happened. Upon hearing what had happened, the neighbor asked, “What’s all the fuss? You weren’t using it anyway. Maybe the person who has it now will do something good with it!”
In the Gospel of Matthew, we read the Parable of the Talents, in which a man leaving on a long journey called three of his servants and entrusted to each a certain sum of money, measured in talents. To one he gave five talents, to another he gave two, and to the third, he gave one. Upon his return, the man called his servants to give account for the money with which he had entrusted them. The first two, by wisely using their talents, had doubled the amount they had received. The master praised these two saying, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”
The third servant, who had received one talent, because of fear, buried it in the earth. Upon the master’s return, this servant returned the only talent given to him. With anger, the master calls him a “wicked and lazy servant.” He then took away the one and only talent entrusted to him and gave it to the servant who had ten.
Jesus offers this parable for us to consider the many gifts that God gives to us. Although we all receive different gifts, there is no difference in God’s reward for what we accomplish with them. If you want to be a faithful servant, then take whatever you have and offer it faithfully to the Lord because in the end it is never about the ability you have been given but what you do with it.
“…but make me worthy, Your sinful and unworthy
servant, to offer these Gifts unto You. For You are the
Offerer and the Offered, The One Who accepts and
distributes, O Christ our God….”
– Priestly prayers before Holy Communion

See our Church as it Could Be
As Orthodox Christians, we see the entire world as God’s gift. The beauties of the created world should be seen as a sacrament of God’s presence and a means to commune with Him. The thankful person, seeing that every good and perfect gift comes from above, will offer back to God the many material gifts he has received from Him.
Like the boy in the New Testament who offered the five loaves and two fish, God will receive our humble gifts and in turn offer them back to us in a more perfected form.

Who is so great a God as our God. He is the God who still performs miracles. And with this in mind, it is possible for the faithful to move beyond the constraining concepts that limit our thoughts to what is only humanly possible. If we faithfully do our part, God will lovingly return to us more than we could ever imagine. This is the true meaning of: “Your own from Your own.” We will see our church, not as it is, but as it could be, with our humble gifts multiplied by God’s generosity and love.
Your Stewardship Offering is an offering to God and He is the only One Who can increase and multiply your gifts. That is why you are asked to give generously.
The parish of Holy Trinity brings together a diverse background of people where we see each other as brothers and sisters with God as our common Father. We are a family who strives to share whatever we have so that through Christ we may be united in heart and soul.

Offering Our Blessings
The God who came to us at Bethlehem continues to come to us today. In every liturgy He comes to us as the Word of God, bringing words of eternal life through the Scripture readings and the sermon. Through the Sacrament of Communion He comes to be born again and again in the shabby stables of our hearts. He comes constantly through prayer. He blesses our marriages as He did that in Cana of Galilee. He stands by our sick bed, laying His healing hand upon us through the prayers of the priest. He comes again and again in so many ways through the various ministries of His Church. He comes with healing and forgiveness; He comes with strength and guidance. He comes and we are made well. As the Bible says, “the blind see, the lame walk, and the prisoners are set free.”
It is by offering our blessings back to God that He will be able to continue His forgiving, healing, liberating, empowering, transfiguring, loving ministry through the Church. For God, Infinite though He be, has chosen to work through us, through our gifts, to continue His saving work in the world today. – Father Anthony M. Coniaris

Private and Confidential

Weekly Giving
